THROTTLE

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 4, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Jumping Ahead, Inc. ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you play THROTTLE Slot Racing (the "Game") or visit https://playthrottle.com (the "Site"). We are the controller of this information. If you have questions, write to privacy@jumpingahead.com.

The short version

1. What we collect and why

Information the Game creates as you play

Information Example Why we need it
Anonymous player ID a random identifier issued by Unity To know which saved progress and purchases are yours, without knowing who you are
Lap records track, power level, race class, best clean lap time, laps driven, times you came off the track, distance driven To save and restore your progress and records
Your best laps ("tapes") about 1.4 KB per lap: time, distance along the track, lane, how far the throttle was pressed, heading and speed, sampled 25 times a second So your best laps are backed up and you can race your own ghost, and (only if you share them) so other players can race against them
Your car's appearance the body, colours, wheels and decals you chose To show your car the way you set it up
Unlocked items the list of items you own or have earned To give you what you paid for or earned, and restore it
A few settings race class, left-handed throttle, how far through the first-run tour you are So the Game behaves the way you left it
Age band "under 13" or "13 and over", only after you answer the birth-year question To decide whether display names and lap sharing are available to you. We never store your birth year or date of birth. The year is used once to work out the band and then discarded
Display name (optional, 13 and over only) "Sam R" Stored on your device. It leaves your device only if you turn on SHARE MY LAPS, and only after our filter removes links, contact details and unsuitable words

Lap data is gameplay data, not location. "Distance along the track" means a position on a fictional slot-car track in the Game. It is not a location in the real world and cannot be turned into one. The Game never requests access to your device's location.

Purchases

When you buy Unlock Everything, Apple or Google processes the payment. We never receive your card or payment details. The store confirms the purchase to the Game on your device, and the Game records which items you own in your save. We do not receive or keep the store's receipt.

Downloads after you install

To keep the app small, some art is downloaded after you install it, from Unity's content-delivery service: the scenery for a track when you choose it (and, on Wi-Fi, in the background), the commentary voices, and, after you buy, the purchased cars. The request is for a file by name only; it carries no player ID or other player data. You can stop downloads over mobile data with Profile → Download over cellular.

Your progress after a reinstall or on a new phone

So that your progress is not lost if you reinstall the Game or change phones, without any sign-in: on iPhone and iPad, a copy of your save (records, car setup, settings and unlocked items) is kept in your own iCloud account using Apple's key-value storage; on Android, the save is included in your device's Google backup if you have backup turned on. These copies are held by Apple or Google under your account and their privacy policies; we cannot read them. Profile → Privacy → Delete my data also removes the iCloud copy.

Technical information every connection carries

Whenever the Game or the Site connects to a server, that server necessarily receives your device's IP address and basic technical information such as the type of device, operating system and app version. Unity (for the Game) and our website host (for the Site) may keep this in server logs, for a limited time, to deliver the service, keep it secure and prevent abuse. We do not use it to identify you, build a profile of you or track you across other apps or websites.

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write, and we use it only to reply and to help you.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, postal address, precise or approximate location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, calendar, health data, advertising identifier or browsing history. Images you import as a car wrap stay on your device; they are never uploaded to us and never shown to anyone else. The Game does not currently send analytics or crash reports anywhere. If a future version offers anonymous play statistics or crash reports, they will be off until you turn them on, never available to players under 13, and described in an update to this policy before that version is released.

The Site

The Site is a set of static pages. It uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising or tracking technologies. The only information it receives is the technical information described above.

2. What other players can see

Nothing, unless you turn on SHARE MY LAPS. It is off until you switch it on in Profile, and available only to players 13 and over.

When it is on, other players may see, for your best lap on each track:

So that other players' games can find laps close to their own pace, your lap time is also listed on that track's leaderboard (Unity Leaderboards) under your anonymous player ID. The leaderboard holds only that ID and the time; it is not shown in the Game, and your name is not on it.

When you turn SHARE MY LAPS off, or delete your data, we withdraw every lap you shared, so it stops appearing in other players' races, and we remove your times from every leaderboard. If you are offline at the time, this happens the next time the Game is online.

Seeing other players. Shared laps from other players can appear in your races, marked REAL DRIVER. You see their display names only if you have told the Game you are 13 or over. Otherwise they appear as "Driver" and a number. If a name is offensive, tap REPORT A NAME on the results screen or the pause screen: it opens an email to us with that player's anonymous ID, and blocks them on your device so you never race their laps again. You can also block without reporting. We review reports and remove names that break our rules.

3. How we use information, and our legal bases

We use the information above only to:

We do not use your information for advertising, we do not build profiles of you, and we do not make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.

4. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising. We share it only with:

5. Where information is processed

We are based in the United States, and Unity and our other providers process information in the United States and other countries. Where information about people in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland is transferred to a country without an adequacy decision, we rely on the safeguards our providers offer, such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. How long we keep information

7. Deleting your data

In the Game: open Profile → Privacy → Delete my data and confirm. The Game deletes, from your device and from our servers: your save, lap records, best laps, car setup, settings, imported wraps and age band; withdraws any laps you shared; and discards your anonymous player ID, so nothing left on our servers is linked to your copy of the Game. The Game then starts again as a fresh install. This cannot be undone. Your purchase is not lost: restore it with Shop → Restore.

If you can no longer open the Game (for example, you uninstalled it without deleting your data), write to privacy@jumpingahead.com from the email address of your choice with your Player ID (shown in Profile → Privacy) or any other detail that lets us find your data, and we will delete it. Because we never know who you are, we cannot find data that is not linked to anything you can tell us about. Such data is not connected to your name or contact details. See also our data deletion page.

Uninstalling the Game removes everything stored on your device, but not the copy on our servers. Use Delete my data first if you want both removed.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

To exercise any of them, email privacy@jumpingahead.com with your player handle, or use Delete my data in the Game. Because we hold no name or contact details, we verify requests by asking for details that only the player could know, such as the handle shown in the Game's Profile screen. We will respond within the time the law requires (generally 30 days, or 45 days for U.S. state privacy laws, which may be extended where the law allows). You may use an authorized agent where the law allows; we may ask for proof of the agent's authority. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and, if you are in the U.S., contact your state attorney general if you disagree with the outcome.

EU, UK and Swiss residents may also lodge a complaint with their data protection authority. We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.

U.S. state privacy laws (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others). In the last 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (the anonymous player ID and an IP address as described above); commercial information (which items you bought and unlocked); internet or other electronic network activity information (gameplay records and laps); and, only if you share them, a display name. We collected them from you and your device, for the purposes described in section 3, and disclosed them only to the recipients in section 4. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you, and we have not done so in the last 12 months. We honor Global Privacy Control signals, although, because we do not sell or share personal information, there is nothing for them to opt you out of.

Do Not Track. The Site and the Game do not track you across other websites or apps, so they treat every visitor as if Do Not Track were on.

9. Children

THROTTLE is a general-audience game. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them beyond what is needed to run the Game.

The first time a player tries to choose a display name or share laps, the Game asks for a birth year on a neutral screen. It keeps only whether the player is under 13 or 13 and over. If the player is under 13:

A parent or guardian can delete everything at any time with Profile → Privacy → Delete my data, or by writing to privacy@jumpingahead.com with the player's handle. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information beyond what is described here, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security

We keep the information we hold to a minimum, which is the best protection there is. Information is sent between the Game and our providers over encrypted connections (HTTPS), stored by Unity under its security program, and accessible to us only through Unity's access-controlled dashboard. Free text, such as a display name, is filtered before it leaves the device. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affecting your information occurs, we will notify you and the authorities where the law requires, although, since we hold no contact details, that notice may have to be given in the Game or on the Site.

11. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy whenever the Game starts collecting or sharing something new, and before the version of the Game that does so is released. The "Last updated" date shows when it last changed. If a change is material, we will give notice in the Game or on the Site before it takes effect, and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent.
